Review
Hanafuda are a set of Japanese playing cards. They are often referred to as 'Flower cards', because each suit is depicted by a different flower. Each flower is representative of a calendar month around the time it comes into bloom. Indeed, the cards depict the yearly cycle using Japanese imagery. In addition to flowers the cards depict animals, birds, insects, a person and objects like prayer banners and a sake cup. The cards are very colorful and can be interpreted in many different ways - only adding to their magic and mystique. These cards have been locked away from the western world for what seems like an eternity... it is time... for the beauty of the flower cards to be shared worldwide.
